Proposal Submission Requirements

Watson-Guptill - Amphoto - Back Stage - Billboard - Lone Eagle

To have a book proposal considered by our editors, please submit the following in writing; e-mail submissions and phone calls will NOT be accepted:
  1. A detailed, annotated table of contents.
  2. A sample chapter (text, captions, and any step-by step-instruction, if applicable).
  3. A brief bio (include professional credentials, books published or other writing credentials, teaching experience, awards, or anything else relevant to your submission).
  4. Any other writing sample.
  5. Sample artwork (no originals, please).
In your cover letter, please include the details of your proposal, the market and/or need for the book, as you see it, any competition and why your book would be different, any comparable books, the level you are writing for (for example, beginner, advanced beginner, professional).

Submission Guidelines for Children's Books:
- Non-Fiction: table of contents and sample section
All must send brief author bio and cover letter describing the marketing considerations for the book. Illustrators may send non-returnable art samples for file.

If there is interest in your projects, you will hear from us in six to eight months. Unsolicited materials will not be returned, and phone calls and e-mail proposals will NOT be accepted.

Permissions
All the permission requests to reproduce images and text from Watson-Guptill Publication titles must be submitted via mail/fax/e-mail specifying the book title, author, pages to be reproduced and for what purpose. Please include a retail cost of reproduced materials if applicable.

Rights
All inquiries pertaining to subsidiary rights and co-edition sales for Watson-Guptill Publications titles must be submitted via mail/fax/e-mail specifying the book title, author, language of interest (if applicable) estimated first print run, estimated retail price.



Review Copies (Press Only)
